Tracking of Food Wastage in Healthcare Using AI

Up to 60% of all food produced in hospital environments is disposed of. Patient meal choices can be tracked through digital ordering systems or recording of choices from manual forms however there is currently no system in place to track what is not eaten in hospitals i.e. after the meal. By introducing a system of wastage tracking, a number of metrics can be derived to benefit both the patient and the healthcare facility. This project addresses the identified need for such a system through automated AI driven tracking of patient meal wastage which can significantly disrupt the healthcare industry.
