Project Journeyman

Flagship Management is a service-disabled veteran owned small business that provides technology-enabled equipment services to the physical therapy, hospital, and luxury home fitness markets. Flagship manages equipment across the unit life cycle from equipment sale through delivery and installation, preventative maintenance, repair, and more. Their technicians undergo a lengthy onboarding and training process, which means it can take years for a single technician to become skilled in servicing a diverse range of equipment. This time-sink creates an obstacle that prevents Flagship from rapidly expanding their business. Additionally, technicians experience safety concerns and extended repair times due to working on equipment they are unfamiliar with. These issues often result in poor customer experiences.

Flagship seeks to invest in the development of Project Journeyman, an LLM AI system that is trained on 100,000+ assets in the field, thousands of work orders, and OEM manuals to assist technicians with in-field diagnostics and repairs. Project Journeyman aims to enable rapid growth by decreasing training and onboarding times while simultaneously decreasing repair times and increasing customer satisfaction and retention. The student will validate Flagship’s hypotheses related to Project Journeyman and develop a cost analysis that will be used for a final go/no-go decision.
