VitalView Technologies, Inc. is a smart health technology company that aims to give people a greater understanding of their overall health and vitality in the most seamless way possible. It offers a patent-protected heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure monitor for hospital and home use. The U.S. Navy’s fighter jets are some of our country’s most expensive and important assets. Helping the Navy to better detect and characterize any debris that enters those critical jet engines is a main focus. The student will be working with VitalView Technologies on its Polarization Mode Dispersion Radio Frequency sensor, developed by the University of Notre Dame’s own Dr. Tom Pratt, Research Professor in Electrical Engineering. The Foreign Object Damage (FOD) System-of-Systems Approach (SOSA) prototype enables the integration of multiple sensor suites, automation, and data logistics, fusion, and analysis. The goal of this project is to help integrate it into the Navy’s systems and cut down maintenance diagnostic time to improve the force’s readiness, which is very important to keeping our military strong.
