The “electronic crust” is the interconnected and delicate digital infrastructure that connects much of modern society. The Internet of Things’ (IoT’s) proliferation into everything including electric power generation and distribution, telecommunications, gas and oil pipelines, water distribution, waste-water treatment plants, air traffic control, first responder systems, and hospitals has allowed for cities and governments to leverage vast amounts of data and decrease costs. With this technological advancement, comes a greater dependence on this electronic crust in every aspect of our life, which may expose our way of life to unseen electromagnetic (EM) threats. This project investigates how Booz Allen can leverage existing and emerging capabilities to fill the white-space of supplying technology, people, and strategies to protect the electronic crust from natural and intentional electromagnetic threats.
