Class of 2019-2020

St. Paul's Hospital Millennium Medical College, 2017

Why I chose ESTEEM:

I have always been passionate about healthcare innovation which is why instead of doing routine clinical practice only I decided to join the office of innovative strategies operation(ISO) at one of the largest hospitals in Ethiopia. During my time in ISO, I was able to see healthcare challenges and had an opportunity to approach them in an innovative environment. My experience in ISO became an outlet for my creativity and my team and I was able to start an oncology center that provided affordable chemotherapy for over 40 patients a week. ESTEEM is a remarkable opportunity for me to garner greater understanding and knowledge of other important elements transcending the boundaries of basic medical practice.

My capstone project and why I am excited about it:

This year I will be working on wearable security monitoring for drug detox with the IDEA Center. I am very excited to introduce a new technology that will improve the treatment outcome of patients seeking care at detox facilities.

What I hope to do after ESTEEM:

I hope to continue working with my current capstone sponsor on my capstone project to launch the technology.

What I like to do when I’m not working:

I like outdoor activities like talking long walks and hiking.
