Capstone Project Abstract

VPL is a healthcare logistics and supply chain technology company focused on simplifying the movement of critical healthcare products. Its platform helps healthcare organizations manage shipping and delivery workflows by connecting carriers, couriers, suppliers, and logistics information within a centralized system. By improving visibility and reducing manual processes, VPL enables healthcare organizations to operate more efficiently while maintaining a focus on patient care.

This capstone project will evaluate VPL’s opportunity to expand its technology into the home medical equipment and durable medical equipment (HME/DME) market. HME/DME providers coordinate the delivery of essential products such as oxygen equipment, wheelchairs, and hospital beds directly to patients, creating logistics challenges that differ from traditional hospital and pharmacy environments. The project will investigate customer needs, existing delivery workflows, market dynamics, and purchasing behavior through primary customer discovery and market research. Based on these findings, the student will assess the attractiveness of the HME/DME market, identify potential customer segments and use cases, and develop recommendations to guide VPL’s product strategy and go-to-market approach within non-acute healthcare.

Why did you choose ESTEEM?

I chose ESTEEM because I wanted to build on the business knowledge and fundamental skills I developed through finance, accounting, and business analytics in undergrad. I wanted to learn what it takes to build and lead a highly effective startup or organization, while developing the skills to identify opportunities, create solutions, and make a meaningful impact wherever I work. ESTEEM stood out to me because of its hands-on focus on entrepreneurship, technology, and commercialization, but also because of the unique community at ESTEEM and Notre Dame. I knew it would challenge me professionally and personally while giving me the experience, network, and perspective to eventually start a business of my own or help grow an innovative company.

What do you hope to do after ESTEEM?

After ESTEEM, I hope to either start a business of my own or join a high-growth organization where I can take on meaningful responsibility and help drive the company forward. I am especially interested in startups and opportunities in technology, fintech, medtech, and consulting, where I can apply my background in business and analytics alongside the entrepreneurship, commercialization, and leadership skills I develop through ESTEEM. Ultimately, I want to put myself in a position where I can build, lead, and create meaningful impact, whether that is through a company I start myself or an organization I help grow.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time, I enjoy running, lifting, spending time with friends, and being outdoors. I also enjoy golfing, cars, and photography. I like keeping up with new AI tools and learning about emerging technologies and how they are changing the way we live and work.
