Capstone Project Abstract

Ascend Learning is a national leader in healthcare education, assessment, and professional credentialing. This capstone project focuses on evaluating the market viability and commercialization strategy for a novel, data-enabled educational bridge that connects pre-nursing assessment data directly with fast-track allied health certifications. Every year, nearly 100,000 capable, highly motivated applicants face intense capacity constraints, long waitlists, or outright rejections when applying to U.S. nursing programs. By leveraging performance analytics from widely used pre-nursing readiness exams like the TEAS, this project explores how to unlock immediate, stackable credential pathways—such as Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy, or Clinical Medical Assistant certifications—for candidates navigating these application cycles. The student will execute an extensive primary discovery campaign across pre-nursing applicants and academic advisors, conduct market sizing and willingness-to-pay analyses, evaluate internal cross-business integration opportunities between ATI and NHA, and construct an actionable go-to-market strategy designed to keep aspiring healthcare professionals moving forward while actively addressing critical workforce shortages nationwide.

Why did you choose ESTEEM?

I chose ESTEEM to bridge the gap between business strategy and the real-world applications of healthcare. Spending years in scientific and clinical spaces taught me that translating medical innovations into accessible, high-impact solutions requires a deep understanding of commercialization, leadership, and enterprise. ESTEEM offers the ideal framework to fuse healthcare with core business principles, allowing me to develop the strategic toolset needed to turn complex clinical concepts into scalable, life-changing realities.

What do you hope to do after ESTEEM?

After ESTEEM, I plan to attend medical school to become a practicing physician, bringing a strong background in business and entrepreneurship directly into my clinical career. My goal isn't just to practice medicine, but to work right at the intersection of clinical care, healthcare technology, and strategic innovation. By applying an entrepreneurial, ESTEEM-cultivated mindset, I aim to help my colleagues navigate systemic challenges, streamline care delivery, and build impactful ventures that improve patient outcomes and uplift entire communities alongside individual patient care.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time, I thoroughly enjoy fishing, golfing, playing soccer, going to the gym, and traveling and hanging out with my friends and family.
