After ESTEEM, I pursued a career in Healthcare IT for a brief period of time before returning to school to for a PhD in human factors and ergonomics. ESTEEM introduced me to design thinking and the concept of user centered design. I wanted the opportunity to learn more about it and be able to develop more user friendly products and systems to improve a person's overall quality of life. Through my PhD program, I have been able to continue my entrepreneurship education and helped start a non-profit in North Carolina's Research Triangle with the goal of creating a collaboration between industry, medical professionals and students in the area to innovate new medical devices.
