Capstone Project Abstract

Enlighten Mobility, founded by ESTEEM alumni, believes that everyone has the right to move. They are focused on advancing diagnostic and rehabilitative tools for neuromotor conditions. Since founding in 2017, they’ve developed early detection technology and rehabilitation devices, working alongside patients, caregivers, researchers and clinical providers to improve patient recovery.

This capstone project will extend that work into home health. As more patients are being discharged earlier into home-based care, the company is exploring whether the gap between inpatient rehab and home recovery represents a viable next market. Less time is being spent in inpatient rehab and more is spent recovering at home, often only seeing a home health PT 1–3 times per week, if that. Early mobilization drives better outcomes, and progress can stall in that daily gap.

The student will conduct stakeholder interviews with patients, caregivers, physical therapists, home health agencies, and payors to understand the clinical need and buying dynamics of the home setting. From there, they’ll shape technical requirements and a go-to-market strategy for bringing rehabilitation technology into home health.

Why did you choose ESTEEM?

I chose ESTEEM because I’m curious about people, and I wanted to have something more than a purely technical engineering path. I wanted to move into something far more people-facing without walking away from the core of what I love about engineering.

ESTEEM lets me keep that technical foundation while picking up the human side of business, like engaging directly with people, identifying real needs, and being at the table where key decisions are made rather than staying behind the scenes.

What do you hope to do after ESTEEM?

After ESTEEM, I want to build a career in healthcare, medtech, or sports tech, all fields where technical design meets real human behavior.

I want to work directly on products that solve genuine needs, using my engineering background to understand how things work and my business training to make sure they actually reach people. Whether that's developing medical devices, working with health tech startups, or building performance gear, my goal is to be in roles where I'm constantly talking to users and making decisions that directly improve everyday lives.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Anything outside, I love hockey and Gaelic football but I'll get involved in anything. I also love travelling and I'll hopefully get to visit a few more places while I'm here!
