Why did you choose ESTEEM?

I chose ESTEEM for its 'learn by doing' approach, which focuses on solving problems in an innovative way. With a background in computer engineering and having worked in the technology industry, I recognized the importance of developing business acumen to transform technological concepts into market-ready products. My summer research experience at Notre Dame in 2022 reinforced this decision, inspired by the cutting-edge research and vibrant community of students and faculty. At ESTEEM, I'm eager to bridge the gap between technical innovation and commercial success, aiming to bring newly researched ideas from the drawing board to real-world application.

What is your capstone project?

Couchbase is dedicated to empowering developers with a high-performance, flexible and scalable database that supports mission-critical applications anywhere. This project aims to explore and define innovative products or services that enhance the developer experience and facilitate the creation of next-generation AI applications.

To guide this development, the student will focus on the essential data management layer for AI applications, generating actionable insights through targeted research and interviews with developers across the technology and AI sectors. The goal is to equip developers with the capabilities they need to accelerate the development and advancement of generative AI applications.

What do you hope to do after ESTEEM?

After ESTEEM, I plan to work in the tech industry, tackling challenging problems and applying innovative solutions to create positive impact through technology. I'm committed to deepening my expertise in AI and exploring its broader applications. Collaborating on impactful projects and working alongside inspiring people, I look forward to ensuring these innovations make a meaningful difference.

What do you like to do in your free time?

My love for the Irish language has taken me to the remote corners of Galway and back numerous times. At Notre Dame, I keep this connection alive by attending traditional music sessions each week and slipping in a few "focal" (Irish words) whenever I can. I also have a passion for Gaelic football and you should catch me in the National finals with the ND GAA squad this year!
