Why did you choose ESTEEM?

I chose the ESTEEM program because it is a perfect marriage of both my education as well as my personal interests. First, it is a perfect segue out of my undergrad, since the program is oriented around both science and business, which are exactly the two fields I studied. Second, and more importantly however, it aligned with my desire to help others and be a force for good. With the capstone project, we are putting our brains to use to help companies take their next steps and become better versions of themselves, which is exactly the kind of work that interests me. Additionally, I loved the chance to get hands-on experience with real-life projects, immersing me into these companies' worlds and creating a valuable and tangible learning environment.

What is your capstone project?

This capstone project is associated with SeneGence, an industry leader in the world’s color cosmetics and skincare industry, based in Foothill Ranch, CA, with major facilities in Sapulpa, OK. SeneGence’s focus is the research, development, and delivery of high-quality, safe and sustainably sourced cosmetic products that seek to empower women around the globe. SeneGence is looking to enhance their network of salespeople and distributors through modern, technological solutions which are both innovative and practical. Specifically, this project seeks to prototype and implement a gamified revenue sharing system, using “crowns” as the currency and visual token, which will provide real-time tracking of progress milestones, as well as a virtual leaderboard which will increase distributor engagement and friendly competition, thus bolstering SeneGence’s dense network. This project will be a new, fun and inventive way to approach distribution and show the world that even gaming can be incredibly useful at times.

What do you hope to do after ESTEEM?

After ESTEEM, I am hoping to combine my background in the science and technology worlds to become a consultant or marketer, primarily in the life sciences, biotech or pharmaceutical industries. I want to work for a company that prioritizes helping people and making the world a better place.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time I love to watch and play sports, whether it’s football, baseball, soccer, golf, or volleyball. Additionally, I love discussing music and movies, hanging out with friends, and spending time in the sun.
