Why did you choose ESTEEM?

I chose ESTEEM because it uniquely aligns with my career aspirations and entrepreneurial goals. As an individual with an engineering academic background and consulting work experience, I needed hands-on training in a well-structured entrepreneurship curriculum to develop an innovative business mindset.

What is your capstone project?

Wight & Company is a renowned integrated architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) firm with a strong legacy of innovating ideas, technologies, and responsible solutions focusing on sustainability.

Wight & Company aims to quantify production efficiencies of the Design Led Design Build (DLDB) project delivery approach to facilitate sustainable change in the industry. The DLDB model integrates all project phases, promoting efficiency, cost savings, and streamlined decision-making. This capstone project will demonstrate the benefits of DLDB by conducting comparative analysis, developing operational and business plans, and creating visualized data for different stakeholders. The project addresses inefficiencies in traditional project delivery methods, often leading to costly reworks, delays, and lower-quality outcomes. For example, over $250 billion is spent annually on only construction reworks industrywide, partly due to inefficiencies in traditional project delivery approaches.

By integrating design and delivery, the DLDB approach eliminates these inefficiencies, resulting in shorter delivery times and cost savings. The student will conduct a comparative analysis of all project delivery approaches, a legislative and regulatory review of the construction industry, and a commercial and financial feasibility analysis to quantify the benefits of DLDB, which will be visualized for industry stakeholders.

What do you hope to do after ESTEEM?

After graduation, I plan to seek associate roles in consulting and venture capital firms as a platform to support businesses and obtain business mastery. Such exposure will trigger my entrepreneurship journey of setting up or running companies focused on manufacturing and industrialization in Africa.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time, I either hang out with friends or run on a treadmill, preferably in a busy gym.
