Class of 2017-2018
Saint John's University, 2017
Why I chose ESTEEM: I came to the ESTEEM Program because I want to gain the business acumen to develop ideas into action. Ideas are easy to come by, but following through is the real challenge. As a pre-medical student in ESTEEM I am hoping to learn how to develop innovative products and therapies to shape the future of 21st century medicine. In our constantly changing field of health and medicine, the ESTEEM Program will give me the tools and expertise to translate ideas from workbench to bedside to improve patient care.
My capstone thesis project and why I'm excited about it: For my thesis I am working with the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research on new implantable device technology. I am excited to work with a company that is revolutionizing the future of medical care and to see what new therapies are going to be available in the next 5-10 years down the road. It's awe-inspiring to see what is being developed in the field of health and medicine and with the Feinstein Institute of Medical Research we are looking to utilize the most powerful tool in the human body, the nervous system, to heal and treat some of the most devastating diseases currently facing America.
What I hope to do after ESTEEM: After ESTEEM I am aspiring to go to medical school and become an innovative and pioneering physician. By developing the tools and skills necessary to act upon ideas, I am hoping to bring ideas to life and set myself apart from standard clinicians by ideating, refining, and implementing devices and therapies that will improve the future of medicine.
What I like to do when I'm not working in Innovation Park: Outside the Greenhouse I like to do anything that will keep me active. In the summer I enjoy a good round of golf, although my golf skills are sub-par, and not in a good way. I also like putting myself in environments where I can learn and grow from new experiences, and that is one of the things that drew me to ESTEEM.
Adds Brady: ESTEEM has been such an amazing experience. The skills you learn here are applicable and necessary for any goal you want to pursue in life and I look forward to being able to apply the skills I have learned through ESTEEM once I venture out into the real world after Notre Dame.
