Capstone Project Abstract

AE Betancourt (AEB), is a fast-growing executive search and talent strategy firm based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, that generates a rich stream of compensation and hiring data through its client engagements nationwide.

AEB's data currently lives across a number of spreadsheets and systems, often entered in multiple locations. This capstone tackles both halves of that problem. First, the student architects a unified relational database that collapses AEB's tracking systems and sheets into a single internal source of truth, eliminating any redundant data entry while preserving every team's existing workflow.

Second, the student investigates whether that same data, once structured, has value beyond AEB's own walls. Through primary research with both competitors already selling proprietary talent data and prospective corporate buyers in need of reliable compensation benchmarks, the project builds toward a go/no-go to market recommendation: should AEB introduce a new revenue stream of selling data and if so, what would it take to get there? The result is a working proof-of-concept data model paired with a market-tested business case for how AEB's day-to-day recruiting data could become a monetizable asset.

Why did you choose ESTEEM?

I came to ESTEEM because I have a passion for innovation within regimented industries and I also wanted to learn what it takes to build a successful tech startup from the ground up. My undergraduate experience gave me a unique perspective on how people interact with technology and I wanted to further that into building outside-the-box tech solutions here at ESTEEM.

What do you hope to do after ESTEEM?

After ESTEEM, I hope to find a position that allows me to further my passion for developing unique products and growing early-stage tech startups. I would love to work at the forefront of emerging technologies and be a force for good in what I do.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I love playing soccer, hanging out with my friends and listening to music. Hoping to do more travelling during and after ESTEEM also!
