Class of 2018-2019
University of Notre Dame, 2018
Why I chose ESTEEM:
I wanted to get a solid, entrepreneurial base before I went on to get a further technical degree so that I could know how to look at things from a opportunistic lens. ESTEEM seemed like the perfect stepping stone for transitioning from a hard-core science degree (Physics) to creating a business grounded in technology.
My capstone thesis project and why I'm excited about it:
For my thesis project I am working with a professor within the chemical and biomolecular engineering department on what are called "charged mosaic membranes". These membranes selectively filter out contaminants from water through ion attraction and transportation through membrane pores. What excites me about the project is how early-stage it is. I get to work with a cutting-edge technology that will force me to evaluate the entire water filtration industry from scratch and I get to really analyze where and how this technology can be applied without having a pre-determined use-case or market.
What I hope to do after ESTEEM:
I plan on going on to further graduate school to get a master's in materials science or materials engineering. After that I hope to work in a management position of an innovative materials company or even start up my own company within the field of materials.
What I like to do when I'm not working:
I love to cycle, swim, and listen to music in my daily life. But if life gave me some time, I'd always opt to travel/backpack/go camping.
