Class of 2017-2018
University of Notre Dame, 2016
Why I chose ESTEEM: After undergrad, I felt that I had found my career, working a year in industry. But I quickly discovered that in order to have the direct impact for a greater good that I desired, I needed to understand both the technical and business side of industry; ESTEEM is perfect to further qualify myself and develop professionally, so that I may leverage my technical and developing business skills to put myself in a position to impact lives and serve through leadership.
My capstone thesis project and why I’m excited about it: I am workingwith Ideators LLC to incorporate nutraceuticals in vending machine beverages to cater to people's personal, nutritional needs. This project is an exciting opportunity to work in a real-time business environment where the ultimate goal is to empower people to lead healthy lifestyles in an affordable, convenient manner.
What I hope to do after ESTEEM: I hope to work directly with people to serve their needs, leveraging my skills and education to be in a role to lead through service.
What I like to do when I’m not working in Innovation Park: I find solace in fitness, particularly in boxing. When I'm not working on group projects, my thesis or reviewing for class, I enjoy the art of exercise and boxing.
Adds Miko: "We learn early on that we are all entrepreneurs in a sense, and that we have the privilege of utilizing our experiences and knowledge to serve our fellow people's needs. Though I found a good starting job after undergrad, I voluntarily left to pursue a future here where I can be a part of something bigger than myself. The road ahead has (and will surely continue to be) uncertain, but anything in life worth undertaking is challenging. I wanted to challenge myself to be more accomplished and qualified so that I can be more than a dedicated part of the workforce; I want to be a leader, and I am confident that the resources here at ESTEEM will help me chase that goal."
