Capstone Project Abstract

Debriefing is an AI-powered competitive intelligence platform designed to help founders understand what is changing in their competitive landscape, why those changes matter, and how they should respond. This capstone project will focus on helping Debriefing refine its go-to-market strategy as it moves toward broader customer adoption. The student will conduct customer discovery and market research to evaluate target customer segments, validate key assumptions about how founders currently gather and use competitive intelligence, and develop insights around positioning, pricing, customer acquisition, and product-market fit.

The student is especially excited to work closely with a lean, bootstrapped startup operating in a highly iterative environment where research and customer feedback can quickly influence real business decisions. The project will provide hands-on experience with the challenges of bringing an AI-enabled product to market while developing a deeper understanding of startup go-to-market strategy. Working within the broader Founder Ventures ecosystem will also provide exposure to experienced founders and venture builders across multiple companies. The team’s open communication structure and extensive use of AI throughout its workflows will create additional opportunities for the student to strengthen both entrepreneurial judgment and practical AI capabilities.

Why did you choose ESTEEM?

I chose ESTEEM because I wanted to become better at turning ideas and research into systems that create real, practical change. My background taught me how powerful good research and strategy can be, but I also realized that insight alone is not enough; you need the holistic skills that allow you to build, test, and scale solutions around it. ESTEEM gives me the opportunity to challenge how I think, strengthen my ability to execute, and learn how to build technology and organizations that help people make better-informed decisions for themselves.

What do you hope to do after ESTEEM?

After ESTEEM, I hope to work in spaces that bring together technology, strategy, and innovation, building products and systems that help people navigate complex decisions with better information and greater clarity. Long term, I want to create and lead ventures that address gaps in access to reliable research, information, and economic opportunity, particularly in places like Kenya, where better infrastructure can significantly expand what people are able to do for themselves. Ultimately, I want to build things that meaningfully change the world.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I like going to the gym, watching anime, and reading Lord of the Mysteries (please read this). I also have a habit of falling down random research rabbit holes and spending hours learning about things I was not even looking for in the first place. Recently, I’ve been playing a lot of chess and pool with classmates, trying random sports like pickleball, and getting really into cooking. I was terrible at it two months ago, but I’m actually pretty decent now haha. I also really enjoy spending time with people. I’m naturally curious, so I love talking to people, hearing their stories, and getting to know them as fellow humans. I’m into fashion too, and I already know a dangerous amount of my free time is probably going to disappear once GTA 6 comes out.
