Class of 2020-2021
Providence College, 2020
Why I chose ESTEEM:
I ultimately chose ESTEEM over other programs because of the capstone project. The opportunity to be able to work with a large company and add real life experience to my resume while in school is unique, puts us at an advantage in the hiring process and expands our networks extensively.
My capstone project and why I'm excited about it:
This year I am working with the IT consulting firm Avanade. For them I will be looking into data reorganization in which I will research alternate data platforms that can be used aside from data lakes and data warehouses. The current nature of data platforms loses data, creates preferences not individualized to the user, can be costly and are only accessible by data engineers. At the end of the project I hope to create an alternate data platform that can be used by many industry leaders to help them create a more efficient data platform for both data engineers and users. I am most excited about working in a new industry. One of my main goals when coming to ESTEEM was to expand my knowledge outside of my finance and math background into the tech world. I believe working on a consulting job in the tech industry will allow me to learn extensively through my research the ins and outs of data and really understand the foundation of the industry. It's a huge perk to be with such a huge industry powerhouse like Avanade too!
What I hope to do after ESTEEM:
After ESTEEM I hope to be able to combine both my finance and ESTEEM backgrounds in one role. Because I am using both skills in my current IT consulting position, staying on a similar track would be ideal.
What I like to do when I'm not working:
I am a yoga instructor, so you will catch me doing yoga EVERYWHERE! I also love cooking. I live in a house with 4 other ESTEEM students so being able to make large family dinners for everyone is so satisfying.
