Class of 2018-2019
St. Edward's University, 2018
Why I chose ESTEEM:
I chose ESTEEM because I had an interest in the business sector of science. Upon looking at several graduate schools, I found that ESTEEM was a great program that included all of my interests.
My capstone thesis project and why I'm excited about it:
For my thesis project, I will be looking at current research in the field of the human microbiome. More specifically, I will be addressing the chronic disorders and immune deficiencies that kids born Cesarean have a greater risk of contracting during the early stages of development. I am approaching this problem by designing a novel probiotic treatment for infants that will be versatile and convenient for all families. This problem is important because 1 in 3 American children are born Cesarean, which is 15% greater than what the World Health Organization considers to be a normal rate.
What I hope to do after ESTEEM:
After ESTEEM, I hope to work for a fast-paced startup company that will challenge my creativity and technical background.
What I like to do when I'm not working:
When I am not working, you can find me hiking or running outdoors. I also enjoy supporting local businesses, finding new recipes, and places for good eats.
