Class of 2018-2019
University of Notre Dame, 2018
Why I chose ESTEEM:
Here at ESTEEM I have the opportunity to translate my passions in medicine and the biological sciences into marketable applications. Through entrepreneurship, discoveries in the lab can reach those they are aimed to ultimately benefit.
My capstone thesis project and why I'm excited about it:
For my thesis project I am working with YeSSGenomics, Inc. The company's ColotypeR technology makes sub-typing of colon cancer tumors clinically feasible, ultimately allowing physicians access to information that will influence their plans of treatment and open the door to personalized medicine in colon cancer. This technology has the ability to drastically improve the probability of survival for many patients. I am very excited for this opportunity to work with YeSSGenomics' business leads and inventors to help construct a go-to-market launch strategy, further refine the technology to fit oncologist's needs and most importantly translate a university discovery into a real-time impact.
What I hope to do after ESTEEM:
After ESTEEM, I hope to enter the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry, or work in tech transfer to identify emerging technologies with the greatest market potential.
What I like to do when I'm not working:
I love to go to barre class, surf and swim at beach, or check-out a new artist at a concert. I love trying new things, so I'm always open to learning about my friends' interests as well. I'm also hoping to do commentary for Notre Dame softball games this year. Check it out this coming spring!
It's been wonderful getting to know my classmates. Everyone has their own area of expertise and I'm excited to see what my class of ESTEEM will collectively accomplish in just 11-months.
