Why I chose ESTEEM ?

I chose ESTEEM to further understand how a business works, and how I can build a business around technology that will make meaningful impact in people's everyday life. I also chose the program, to explore other industries outside of healthcare and med devices. Having an undergrad in Biomedical Engineering, I really want to leverage my time at ESTEEM to push myself as far out of my comfort zone as possible and hopefully uncover areas that I am super passionate about, and also others that I am not so passionate about.

My capstone project and why I'm excited about it ?

Red micro algae contain bioactive substances that are in high demand within the personal care industry due to the benefits that the ingredient lends to anti-aging formulations. Coast Southwest aim to fulfil this demand through paving a more direct route to supply of the species. To that end, myself and the team at Coast Southwest are investigating the possibility of implementing in-house manufacturing of a red micro algae species to expand their algae ingredient portfolio and increase overall sales for the company. The project is exciting to me not only because I am being exposed to the personal care and cosmetic industry, but also the Algae Production industry. Now more than ever, Algae Production is in the limelight because it provides a potential solution to the inevitable and ever-evolving issues that planet earth faces with regards to food, energy shortages, and climate change.

What I hope to do after ESTEEM ?

After ESTEEM I would love to either join a start up or a growth stage company in the field of renewable energy, blockchain technologies or alternatively pursue a social entrepreneurship role. These are all such different fields, but I want to use my time at ESTEEM to explore each industry and hopefully figure it out as I go! The main thing that I want to work towards after ESTEEM is to always try and make meaningful impact, be that through work, a side hustle, voluntary work or even just helping those starting ESTEEM next year.

What I like to do when I'm not working ?

When I'm not working I like to travel, run, hike, read and do yoga
