Author: ESTEEM

Jack O’Meara is an ESTEEM graduate from the Class of 2016. He sits down with ESTEEM’s Executive Director, David Murphy, to discuss his background in biomedical engineering, what led him to choose ESTEEM, and the value he found in ESTEEM’s real-world, people-centric approach to entrepreneurship. He says the program and the wider Notre Dame network have been instrumental in setting him up for a successful career in healthcare and biomedical research.

Prior to joining the ESTEEM Graduate Program, Jack studied biomedical engineering at the University of Galway. After graduating from ESTEEM, Jack began his career in healthcare consulting. In 2019 he co-founded Ochre Bio, a biotech research company focused on discovering and developing new treatments and therapies for liver disease, where he served as CEO for five years. Jack’s accomplishments at Ochre led to his selection for the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in the Science and Healthcare category for Europe in 2023. In his conversation with David, Jack shares lessons he learned from putting together a functional team, growing a new company, and what’s next for him as he looks ahead to new opportunities in neurodegenerative disease research.
