2010 ESTEEM Alum Wins Prize at McCloskey Business Plan Competition

Congratulations to Double Domer Sophia Cortez and partners Tyler Iams and Tracey Iams for winning the FISH Social Venture R&D Award as part of the 2010-2011 McCloskey Business Plan Competition for their venture, Education Competition.  The team won prizes that included $7,000 in cash and in-kind services including space and services at Innovation Park.  Education Computation will implement a modular teaching program by bringing technology to students at residential facilities and group homes to bridge the growing digital divide while using novel software to enhance test scores and increase high school graduation rates.   

About the Winners:  Sophia Cortez graduated from Notre Dame in 2009 with a degree in biological sciences before getting a Master’s of Science degree from the ESTEEM Program in 2010.  She currently is a Client Solution Development and Delivery Team Member for The ABIS Group in Evanston, Illinois.  Tyler Iams graduated with a B.S. in biological sciences from Indiana Univeristy in 2009.  Tracy Iams is currently a program supervisor at the Family and Children Center in South Bend, Indiana.
