Assistant Director, Curriculum, Recruiting and Marketing
Kyle sets the direction for improvements to ESTEEM classes and learning experiences as well as efforts to grow ESTEEM’s student body and impact. He brings to this position a varied skillset from design, environmental science and education.
Kyle has previously worked in community-based land conservation at Athens Land Trust, bringing together diverse groups of partners to protect ecologically and culturally important spaces in and around Athens, GA. He also spent two years with the Life Design Lab at Stanford University, building and teaching courses that use Design Thinking and innovation tools to increase students' self-efficacy and empower them to imagine and create authentic, engaged lives. Other past lives include work as a Community Forester with the Urban Resources Initiative in New Haven, CT; for MASS Design Group in Boston, MA, and Port-au-Prince, Haiti, doing conceptual development for low-cost housing and facilitating a CSEB design-build workshop; and teaching elementary math in Loja, Ecuador.
Kyle holds a MS in Design from Stanford University and a MESc in Urban Ecology from Yale University. He earned a BA in French and a BS in Math from Hope College in Holland, MI, and speaks French, Portuguese and Spanish. His wife, Sarah Quesada, is Assistant Professor of Latino Literature at Notre Dame and they keep busy outside of work with their daughter, Elsi and son, Elio.
