Major: Mathematical Science (Applied, Statistical, and Bioinformatics)
Zachary is originally from Sligo, a seaside city in the North-West of Ireland. His undergraduate studies were based at the University of Ireland, Galway where he majored in Mathematical Science (Applied and Statistical Math), graduating with highest honors. Zachary's past academic and research experience has afforded him the opportunity to see and travel around many different corners of the world, with research internships in Ireland, Hong Kong, and Saudi Arabia.
As a Surf and Stand Up Paddleboarding school owner, Zachary understands the need for business exposure and entrepreneurial foundations to provide and sustain a service to the community. Now, as a Naughton Fellow, ESTEEM offers him the opportunity to fuse advanced technical electives with pragmatic business fundamentals in an endeavour to prompt and foster social enterprises -- to better societies and raise awareness and tolerance of inequity, encourage diversity and address cultural issues.
For his ESTEEM capstone thesis project, Zachary will be working to develop a global blockchain for cross border payments, while identifying target demographics and markets for implementation.
In his spare time, Zachary enjoys playing the violin, catching Pokémon, and learning languages (he is currently deciding between learning Russian or Mandarin).
