Shawn Cook

Major: Geological Engineering

Shawn is an active duty US Army Engineer Officer hailing from Spartanburg, South Carolina. He is a graduate of The Citadel where he received a Bachelor of Science and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Corps of Engineers in 2007.

In 2011, CPT Cook graduated from the Engineer Captain’s Career Course as a Distinguished Military Graduate at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. During this time he also obtained his Masters of Science in Geological Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology. Following Graduate School, he was assigned to V Corps in Wiesbaden, Germany and quickly deployed to Afghanistan as the Chief Engineer Planner in Operations for ISAF Joint Command. Upon redeployment, he was assigned as the 15th Engineer Battalion Construction officer in Grafenwöhr, Germany. During this time, he planned and coordinated several construction projects in support of the European theater and accompanied the 902nd Engineer Company on a two-month long deployment to Mihail Kogălniceanu Airbase, Romania to manage construction of a personnel transit facility for Soldiers deploying to Afghanistan. Most recently, Shawn commanded the 902nd Engineer Company in Grafenwöhr, Germany. During his 18 months in command, Shawn deployed his company on several NATO missions throughout the Baltics States and supported the US led coalition in Liberia, Africa in response to the Ebola virus outbreak. Cook is married to the former Celeste Nicole Thompson and has two sons. He enjoys golfing, biking, reading and traveling with his family.
