After graduating from the ESTEEM program in 2013, Steven has been working as an R&D Engineer at a medical device company, ConMed Corporation, at their orthopedic manufacturing center in Largo, FL. He has worked on several projects in the disposable and capital device markets during his tenure at ConMed including competitive benchmark testing of dual-purpose shaver blades for arthroscopic procedures as well as design changes to improve the reliability of autoclavable lithium-ion batteries and both large and small-bone power drills and saws. Some of his current projects include performing failure analysis evaluations on ConMed€'s new Advanced Energy electrosurgical product line to help reduce customer complaints as well as a Green Belt Lean Six Sigma project to reduce manufacturing scrap of small-bone handpieces due to HiPot failures. He also takes frequent site visits to hospital sterile processing departments in order to assist staffing with best practice cleaning and sterilization instructions of ConMed€'s power equipment for optimal reliability.
