Business Case and the Justification for the Commercialization of a Breast Cancer Immunotherapy Prognosis Marker Kit

Student: Melissa Connolly, 2017-2018

Sponsor: Prof. Siyuan Zhang, Biological Sciences, Notre Dame, IN

This project aims to assess the business opportunities for a breast cancer immunotherapy prognosis marker kit. The first stage includes ascertaining a provisional patent for a prognosis marker kit that could be used by oncologists to determine the likelihood of a breast cancer patient positively responding to immunotherapy treatments. The product must be developed in accordance with FDA regulations and be proven with clinical results. Once efficacy is established and customer segments have been validated, a market strategy and opportunity assessment will be conducted, including an investigation into the competitive and intellectual property landscape. When a viable market opportunity is determined, financial projections will be established in order to develop a complete startup plan.
