Will McLeod is a Mechanical Engineer/Product Designer, inventor, and serial entrepreneur who founded a smart-glass technology company, SmarterShade - which also served as his ESTEEM thesis project. Will has studied entrepreneurship, computer science, and optics to complement his M.S. (ESTEEM), B.S. (Mechanical Engineering) and B.A. (Industrial Design) degrees from the University of Notre Dame.
Will has been successful in winning more than a dozen business plan competitions, and federal and local grants that have totaled more than $2M in funding. He has served as the Principal Investigator on three NSF grants and is the lead inventor on two issued patents. His first book Mechanical Engineering for Hackers: A Guide to Designing, Prototyping, and Manufacturing Hardware is available on Amazon.
Will is also a fellow of the Startup Leadership Program, a selective global training program and lifetime network for outstanding founders and innovators.
Currently, he is the Technical Director and Co-Founder of Keen Home. A seed funded, Techstars alumnus, Keen Home is a home automation startup creating devices for the core functions of the home. Their first product, the Smart Vent, is available nationwide at Lowes.
