Matthew is from Cincinnati, Ohio. He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Notre Dame in 2002. He then went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, graduating in 2006.
Matthew conducted his General Surgery Residency at Case Western Reserve University from 2006 to 2013. During this time he received his Master’s degree in the ESTEEM (Engineering, Science, Technology entrepreneurship) Program at the University of Notre Dame, completing a capstone thesis assessing the market potential of a novel statin and CFTR gene modulator drug combination for Cystic Fibrosis.
After completing the ESTEEM program, Matthew participated in fellowships at Weill Cornell Medical College and Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He has contributed to many medical publications and is currently an Instructor in Surgery at Vanderbilt University, residing in Nashville, Tennessee.
