Hailing from the Garden of Ireland, County Wicklow, Daniel honed his analytical and problem-solving skills while studying for a bachelor's degree in Theoretical Physics at Trinity College Dublin. In 2013 he was one of four Irish students awarded a prestigious Naughton Fellowship to study for a master's degree in science and entrepreneurship at the University of Notre Dame's ESTEEM program.
His goal of gaining a wide range of work experience has led him around the globe from sailing schools in Ireland to an architectural firm in Manhattan to opal mines in South Australia. As brand manager of a local newspaper in 2009, he became familiar with the daily operations and challenges of local businesses. During his time in 2011 with Susquehanna International Group, he gained an understanding of financial markets and the latest in business and analytics technologies. In 2012, he carried out quantum-mechanical simulations of atomic-scale physics at the Tyndall National Institute.
After graduating from the ESTEEM program, Daniel decided to join enFocus, a non-profit business-consulting firm located in South Bend. In his role as an Innovation Consultant he is responsible for several exciting projects. He is working with the City of South Bend to implement a new software system for the Department of Code Enforcement that will allow them to manage cases more effectively. He is coordinating the social media campaign for a $5 million fundraising event for 50 local non-profit organizations. And, he is involved in the State of Indiana's Regional Cities Initiative which is looking to transform the region's approach to economic development by focusing on talent retention and quality of place.
