Alysha Thomas grew up in New England and graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2013 with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. She knew she wanted to pursue an advanced degree, but wanted to focus on both science and business. Less than two months later, Alysha found her ideal situation when she began the ESTEEM program at the University of Notre Dame.
Alysha’s capstone thesis project involved the study of vermiculite, a mineral found in deposits all over the world. She partnered with Morgan Advanced Materials (located in Elkhart, IN) and developed technology for the artificial embers market.
After graduation, Alysha accepted a job at Morgan Advanced Materials and relocated to Augusta, GA where she has the opportunity to experience intrapreneurship -- one of ESTEEM’s key areas -- firsthand.
In her spare time, Alysha volunteers with Cocoon Biotech, a start-up who hopes to free people from osteoarthritis. She is a runner, and has joined the local soccer league in Augusta. While living in SEC country, Alysha hopes to convince more people to cheer for the Irish.
